The challenge:
Cafe Bustelo, a small heritage brand born in a NY bodega, had the hearts of many but the attention of few. If we wanted to spark growth, especially among younger consumers, we had to evolve our look, while staying true to our Latin roots.
Cafe Bustelo, a small heritage brand born in a NY bodega, had the hearts of many but the attention of few. If we wanted to spark growth, especially among younger consumers, we had to evolve our look, while staying true to our Latin roots.
The solution:
Create a world so visually compelling and authentically Latin, that was made for young Latinxers, by young Latinxers.
With their help, we made Bustelo a portal to a more vibrant world, adding depth to our characters and their environments by leveraging a combination of 2D and 3D to allow more fluid movement and dynamic storytelling. Not only was our visual language inspired by the community, so were the film scenes where we pulled real life ways in which Bustelo naturally lives in culture: from repurposed Bustelo cans to nail designs with our logo.

The rebrand was a fan favorite, achieving 25.6%-dollar growth, the fastest growth rate of the top 10 coffee brands.
